Imran Khan Loses the Battle in Supreme Court

Imran Khan, the Prime Minister of Pakistan has been facing a tough time and the Supreme Court of Pakistan said that the no-confidence motion against Imran Khan was unconstitutional. The top court asked the Speaker to call for the session and it ruled out the review petition. The no-confidence motion against Imran Khan will be held in the Assembly on Saturday at 10 AM. If Khan loses, he will be the first Pakistan Prime Minister to be ousted through a no-trust vote in the history. Imran Khan refused to step down saying that he would fight till the last minute. Qasim Suri, the Deputy Speaker dismissed the no-trust motion against Imran Khan on Sunday. He happens to be a loyalist of the Prime Minister.

Soon, Imran Khan called for fresh elections and asked the President to dissolve the Assembly. The Election Commission of Pakistan told that the elections cannot be conducted before October. The opposition parties approached Supreme Court and challenged the decision of the Deputy Speaker. As per Article 58 of the constitution of Pakistan, no Assembly can be dissolved when there is a no-confidence motion against the government. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the leader of the Pakistan People's Party (PPP), tweeted, "Democracy is the best revenge! Jiya Bhutto! Jiya Awam! Pakistan Zindabad". Imran Khan's Tehreek-e-Insaf party lost the majority in the house which has 342 members
