Social media connectivity crosses a new milestone, as Facebook reaches 1 billion users across the globe in one day on Monday, the highest ever. The new benchmark was boasted by the California-based social networking giant.

On Thursday, CEO Mark Zuckerberg posted on Facebook that, “We just passed an important milestone. For the first time ever, one billion people used Facebook in a single day.”

“On Monday, 1 in 7 people on Earth used Facebook to connect with their friends and family,” he added.

“Our community stands for giving every person a voice, for promoting understanding and for including everyone in the opportunities of our modern world.”

Zuckerberg commented that a more open and connected world is a better world.

Boasting about the achievement, Mr. Zuckerberg wrote, the social media brings stronger relationships with those you love, stronger economy with more opportunities and stronger society that reflects all of our values.

“Thank you for being part of our community and for everything you’ve done to help us reach this milestone. I’m looking forward to seeing what we accomplish together,” he said.

In 2004, Facebook was created by Mr. Zuckerberg in his Harvard Dorm room and now the social network firm has evolved to become the second most trafficked website across the globe.
